How do we organize against authoritarian rule and fascism in the US? Center for Political Education is hosting a multi-part series to sharpen our shared understanding of how social movements in the US must organize against the repressive and dangerous political forces within our government and society. In Session 1, we’ll take a look at how criminalization — a process that dehumanizes certain populations to render them vulnerable to (state) violence — is fundamental to the fascist program. We will examine how abolitionists have long understood the connection between punishment and fascism, and the theoretical and strategic frameworks they offer social movements resisting ascendant fascism and authoritarianism today. We’re honored to have Critical Resistance co-sponsor this session with CPE, which will feature a conversation between Rachel Herzing and Robin D.G. Kelley.
