Oakland Says No to Apartheid

PANEL DISCUSSION: Oakland Says No to Apartheid From South Africa to Palestine

⏰Sunday, March 29 | 3–5PM
📍First Unitarian Church: 685 14th St, Oakland

Join us for a panel discussion on the historic role that Oakland played in the global struggle against apartheid and imperialism. Hear about the legacy of local resistance against the South African apartheid regime, and how the movement lives on in the ongoing fight for a People’s Arms Embargo and divestment from Israel’s apartheid and colonial occupation.

Oakland has a proud legacy of resisting apartheid and systems of oppression, but today the Oakland Airport has been used to transfer of deadly cargo to Israel, sustaining the U.S.-Israeli genocide in Gaza. From the 1984 dockworkers’ strike against South African cargo to today’s Oakland People’s Arms Embargo, join us to explore how our city refuses to be a pipeline for war and aggression.
