As the federal immigration system grows more perilous and cruel, the Bay Resistance Accompaniment Network is showing up in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors: accompanying adults and families to their scheduled immigration appointments and court hearings in San Francisco and Concord every week.
We are looking for more volunteers to join this critical effort and meet the growing need from our community partners.
Please consider joining this training if you:
Have a schedule that allows you to commit to volunteer on weekdays between 8am and 5pm
Are able to travel on your own to downtown San Francisco and/or Concord
Speak a language other than English (most of our requests are for Spanish-speakers, but also Mam, Chinese, Vietnamese, and other languages)
Want to provide thoughtful support for our neighbors under threat
(At this time, we are only looking for additional volunteers who speak a language other than English. We may invite more English-speaking-only volunteers in the future, thank you for your understanding.)
At the training we’ll go over:
Why accompaniment is a powerful act of solidarity
How to provide accompaniment for immigration appointments
How to be part of our volunteer accompaniment network
This project is being organized by volunteer leaders with Bay Resistance, in partnership with local organizations that provide legal and other support to the Bay Area immigrant community.
