BAY RESISTANCE SAYS HANDS OFF THE BAY
American cities are under attack by the Trump administration. Trump has made multiple threats against San Francisco and Oakland. Now he has now threatened that San Francisco is next. Instead of investing in schools, hospitals, and public services, taxpayer dollars are being spent to send National Guard troops and ICE agents into our communities — ripping families apart and targeting working people.
Bay Resistance is a network of community groups, faith organizations, unions, and neighbors standing together in nonviolent resistance. Communities across the country are coming together to protect themselves and each other from unwanted militarized presence, and we are ready to do the same. Our message is clear: stay out of the Bay.
We’ve seen from LA to DC, Chicago to Portland, that Trump’s invasions do not keep us safe - they bring violence, shatter order and devastate families. This is not about safety. Trump wants to tear down the Bay because of what we represent — our diversity, our respect and care for our neighbors, and the spirit of resistance that runs deep in our bones. We stand in solidarity with all cities that have already faced military intervention.
We believe tax dollars should strengthen schools, hospitals, and safe neighborhoods — not build detention centers and tear families apart. Occupying our cities is an assault on our rights and values, including our First Amendment rights to freedom of the press, to free speech, and to peacefully assemble. The civil rights abuses and violence from federal law enforcement that we have seen across the country are unconscionable.
Prolonged military occupation is not only devastating for the Black, Latinx and API communities indiscriminately targeted but also for the local economy. People are scared to go to work or school, or even to leave their houses.
We pledge to organize together, build local power, and stand in solidarity with each other and every city facing military occupation. Together we will defend our democracy and our communities.
