In early 2025, news broke that ICE is considering reopening the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin which is a prison shut down in 2024 after survivors exposed horrific, systemic staff sexual abuse targeting incarcerated women, many of whom were undocumented immigrants. Now, under Trump’s brutal mass deportation agenda ICE wants to turn this site of trauma into an immigrant detention center, despite fierce local opposition.
